VoiceIsland is a language-learning application that turns your own conversations, recordings and written material into personalised practice. This policy explains what information we process and why.
Information we process
- Account details such as your name, email address and authentication identifiers.
- Language preferences, learning goals, conversations, imported text, cards, answers and progress.
- Audio you choose to record and the transcripts or pronunciation results produced from it.
- Basic technical and diagnostic information needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use information
We use this information to provide authentication, synchronise your learning material, generate translations and exercises, deliver speech features, measure progress, prevent abuse and improve reliability. We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
VoiceIsland uses trusted processors including Clerk for authentication, Vercel for hosting, Neon for database storage, and configured AI providers such as OpenRouter or OpenAI for language and speech processing. Content sent to an AI provider is limited to what is needed to perform the feature you request.
Microphone and recordings
Microphone access is optional and only starts after you activate a recording feature. Recordings may be processed to create transcripts or pronunciation feedback. Browser permissions can be withdrawn at any time in your device settings.
Retention and security
We retain account and learning data while your account is active or as needed to operate the service. Cached audio may be removed after a period of inactivity. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You may request access, correction, export or deletion of your personal information. You may also stop using speech features or revoke Google access from your Google Account settings.
